Mrs Hughes is the Senior Leader with responsibility for Curriculum and Raising standards, High Achievers Co-ordinator, Extended Schools Co-Ordinator and Head of Mathematics. She is a qualified Mathematics teacher with over 15 years of experience. Mrs Hughes delivers Mathematics across Key Stage 3 and 4 classes.  She also co-ordinates the High Achievers Programme in our school and in some of our feeder Primary Schools.

Mr Lynch is a Senior Leader in the College. He is in charge of Pastoral Care within the school. Along with these roles Mr Lynch teaches Irish and is widely regarded as the best teacher in the country.

Mrs B. Leathem
Mrs B. Leathem

Mrs Brenda Leathem is a member of our school Senior Leadership Team. As part of this role she is the Designated Teacher in charge of Child Protection in St John the Baptist’s College. Any disclosures made about a child in our care will be referred to her. She is also the Nurture Co-ordinator in our school. Primary School pupils may also recognise her as the St John the Baptist’s College Primary School Liaison Officer. As the Head of Religious Education she is involved in ensuring that the Core Syllabus for R.E. is delivered to our pupils, and that liturgy is included in our school life.

 
Mr P. Rath
Mr P. Rath

Mr Rath has many roles within the school. He is the Head of Department in PE. Mr Rath is also the SIMS and Data Manager within the college. He is currently the Health & Safety and Examination Officer. Along with these roles he is an active member of the Safeguarding Team and one of our Senior Leaders. He is the Staff Representative on the Board of Governors.

Ms Magee is the ICT and Innovation Coordinator and is responsible for overseeing e-learning and the use of digital platforms such as Google Classroom. She is a History and English teacher who has taught in St. John the Baptist's College for 10 years and is also a member of the Senior Leadership Team.

Mrs K. Towe

Mrs Towe is the Co-ordinator of Special Educational Needs. She is a member of the Extended Leadership Team. Mrs Towe also teaches Business Enterprise to all Key Stage 3 pupils and GCSE Business and Communication Systems and BTEC Business First Award to Key Stage 4 pupils.

Mr M. Mc Conville
Mr M. Mc Conville

Mr. Mc Conville has been a teacher in the school for almost 26 years. He teaches French and Irish to mainstream classes. He is also pivotal in the delivery of the Gaelic games programme. He is the person in charge of managing staff cover and assistant Exams Officer.

Mrs Coyne is an Art & Design teacher with many years of teaching experience. Art pupils in SJBC have enjoyed their after schools fun art classes, trips to the Ulster Museum and window painting in the neighbouring Rosemount Nursing Home Portadown. This year pupils in KS3 and KS4 won 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes in our local Credit Union poster design. The Art department currently have two GCSE examination classes.

Mr T. King
Mr T. King

Mr King teaches RE in SJBC. This is his first year in the school but he has been teaching RE for twelve years in three different schools in Liverpool.  He is the form tutor to 9D. Outsider of teaching Mr King enjoys orienteering, music and has started to learn Spanish.  

 
Mr R. McCabe
Mr R. McCabe

Mr McCabe is a Technology & Design teacher, who also delivers Math’s and Science at KS3 level. He teaches Occupational Studies Engineering to our current KS4 pupils. Mr McCabe is in his third year of teaching after he graduated with a BSc in Technology & Design before completing his PGCE. He delivers the STEM enrichment class and facilitates a team of SJBC pupils that have entered the 'F1 In Schools' competition. His hobbies include playing Gaelic football, travelling and all things sport.

Mr R. Dineen
Mr R. Dineen

Mr Dineen currently teaches Technology & Design and Art and Design at KS3 as well as Occupational Studies Engineering at KS4. Mr Dineen is in his first year of teaching here at SJBC, he graduated from St Mary's University College Belfast with a B.E.d in Technology& Design and ICT. He takes a coding enrichment class and facilitates a team of SJBC pupils that have entered the 'F1 In Schools' competition. His hobbies include photography, travelling the world and 3D printing

 
Miss F. McCormack
Miss F. McCormack

Miss McCormack joined SJBC in September 2020. She is the Arts teacher in the College and currently teaches KS3 Music and Drama, GCSE Performing Arts and KS3 Maths. She graduated from St Mary’s University with a B.Ed. in Maths and Science and is currently undertaking a Masters in Mathematics Education at Trinity University Dublin. Miss McCormack also facilitates additional support for pupils in Numeracy and takes the Performing Arts Enrichment club. Outside of school Miss McCormack’s interests lie in all things musical and dramatic.

Mrs Scullion currently teaches Mathematics to KS3 and KS4 at SJBC.  This is her second year within the college but she has 8 years teaching experience. Mrs Scullion graduated with a BSC in Mathematics from QUB and completed her PGCE the following year. She is a form teacher to 10B and is looking forward to supporting them throughout the year ahead.

 
Miss A. Bradley
Miss A. Bradley

Miss Bradley is now beginning her second year in St John the Baptist’s college after introducing Spanish to the curriculum last year. She qualified with a first class honours in Modern Languages from Queen’s University Belfast in 2017. She worked and studied Translation for a year in Brussels before returning to complete her PGCE in Queen’s University in 2019. She is currently undertaking a Masters in Education from Stranmillis University College on a part time basis. Miss Bradley teaches languages at KS3 as well as our GCSE Irish, French and Spanish classes. Miss Bradley also facilitates additional provision for Irish medium pupils and has a keen interest in digital learning tools and how they can be used to enhance learning in the college. She is form teacher to 11A and is really looking forward to supporting them throughout this academic year.

Ms S Murphy is in her second year of teaching at St John the Baptist's College. She qualified from St Mary's University College with first class honours in Liberal Arts with English. Ms Murphy then completed her PGCE in Ulster University, where she is now completing her final year of a Master of Education degree. Ms Murphy is form teacher to 9A and is excited to take them through SJBC, with every success theirs for the taking.

Miss C. Heaney

Miss Heaney has joined the RE department for her first year at SJBC. She currently teaches Religious Education and History at KS3 level and is facilitating the OCN RE for our KS4 pupils. She is also working alongside Miss McCormack to facilitate the performing arts option during our enrichment period. Miss Heaney is the co-ordinator of our SJBC dance team who train after school each Thursday. Outside of school Miss Heaney’s interests include dance and all things Disney!

Miss Barker is a Geography, Travel and and Toruism and PE teacher at SJBC. This is Miss Barker’s second year teaching at the college. Miss Barker graduated with a BSc Geography from QUB before completing her PGCE. Miss Barker is currently studying a Masters part-time in Education at St. Mary’s University College Belfast. 
 
Miss Barker helps out with the school Camogie and Ladies Gaelic football teams within the college. Miss Barker is form teacher to 10C and is looking forward to supporting them throughout this academic year. 
Outside of school Miss Barker’s interests include playing Camogie for her local club in Dungannon as well as well as fashion. Miss Barker loves to travel and has visited many countries such as Australia, New Zealand, Bali, South Africa and America.

Miss Conway currently teaches Religious Education, History and English in SJBC at KS3 level and is facilitating the OCN RE for our KS4 pupils. She is the co-ordinator of our faith leaders in the school as well as the journalism club during our enrichment period. She is also working with small groups of our EAL pupils to help provide one to one help.

Miss Boden is the GCSE ICT teacher in the school, she delivers both BTEC ICT and CCEA GCSE ICT. She is the supervisor of the Digital Leaders group and she also teaches those students who participate in the coding enrichment classes. Along with ICT, Miss Boden teaches Religion and Business Enterprise.

Miss Hughes graduated from St Mary’s University with a B.Ed. in Maths and Science and joined the college in September 2020. She currently teaches Mathematics and Science to KS3 and KS4 at SJBC. She is also a form teacher to 10A and is looking forward to supporting them throughout the year ahead.

Mr J. Page

Mr Page teaches English at SJBC. He is a Form Teacher for class 8E and is based in Room 11. Outside of SJBC he teaches Drama with Brassneck Youth Theatre, in Belfast. Mr Page also like to go for mountain walks, play guitar, and is learning to speak Irish.

Miss McCartan joined the college in September 2020. She teaches Home Economics and Childcare within the school and is also involved with the delivery of Preparation for Adult Life (PAL) and the Prince’s Trust.

Mr A. McAleenan

Mr McAleenan teaches PE and LLW. His main interests/hobbies is playing Gaelic football for Warrenpoint GAA and he also coaches the schools football teams. Mr McAleenan is 9C Form Teacher and he is excited for the school year ahead.

Mrs Mc Keever is the Community Links and Partnerships Co-ordinator within the school. She is also the Health and Well-being Co-ordinator for staff and pupils. She teaches Physical Education and Home Economics.

Mrs Carolan is Head of the Science Department and has been teaching at the College for almost 16 years. She teaches Science to KS3 and KS4. Mrs Carolan is also Head of CEIAG and helps to advise pupils when choosing their GCSE subjects. She has also been Eco School co-ordinator for over 10 years and has helped the College gain four green flag awards. This year Mrs Carolan is a form teacher to 11V and is looking forward to supporting them throughout the year ahead.

Mr McSherry has been a teacher in the school for almost 23 years. He teaches KS3 Technology & Design as well as Occupational Studies Construction at KS4. He graduated with a BEng (hons) degree in Mechanical Engineering from QUB before completing his PGCE.

Miss Sharkey is the literacy and numeracy support teacher. She is a maths graduate from QUB. Miss Sharkey works with smaller groups of pupils to provide one to one help. Miss Sharkey is also involved with numeracy games and activities at lunch time available to all pupils.

Mrs Rodgers teaches English in the school. She has experience teaching English, English Literature, High Achievers English and Drama at KS3 and GCSE. She is helping to co-ordinate the Student Leadership in the school.

Mrs O’Neill is one of the Science teachers in the school. She is teaching KS3 and KS4 science as well as GCSE PAL. She has 10 years experience as a teacher. Mrs O’Neill is helping to co-ordinate STEM club, Eco club and Cookery club within the school.

Mrs L. Swain

Mrs. Swain is a Nurture Teacher based in our Nurture Centre. As a BACP registered Integrative Counsellor, Mrs. Swain plays a vital role in our Pastoral Team. She provides mentoring and additional counselling for students when required supplementing the counselling provision in school by Familyworks. She also teaches Learning for Life and Work through CoPE level 2 allowing our Gifted and Talented students to gain a GCSE equivalency of a grade B by the end of year 10. Mrs. Swain is also responsible for updating our Facebook page together with other Public Relations duties.

Michael Toland is a Classroom Assistant with Year 11s and PE, Michael previously attended the school, from 2005-2010, Michael has a degree in Sports Science. Michael worked with the Transform Project and is currently in charge of the lunch club. He’s hobbies include playing football for ballyoran football club and going to the gym.

Anton Toland is a nurture based Classroom Assistant. Anton previously attended the school before going to university in Liverpool to study disability sports coaching. Outside of school Anton plays soccer for Ballyoran and Gaelic for Tir na Nog. He is a massive Liverpool fan and hopes to be at Anfield when Liverpool win their 20th title this season.

Nicola previously attended Drumcree College. She graduated LJMU in 2018 with BA hons Degree in Early Childhood Studies. Her main interests outside of school include travelling, spending time with friends and chilling out with my two wee dogs

Nicole is a Classroom Assistant in the College. She has recently graduated from St Mary's University College, Belfast and plans on completing her PGCE. She has a wealth of experience and is a great contribution to her class.

Killian has moved here from County Mayo looking to pursue a new career. He has a degree in Strength and Conditioning which he completed in LIT. He is working as a Classroom Assistant and has been put forward to assist in the Breakfast Club.

Ryan went to St Ronan's College and later obtained a degree in Business economics from Jordanstown in 2020. He is hoping to go on and complete a PGCE or a masters in Strength and Conditioning. Ryan is now working as a Classroom Assistant in SJBC. In his spare time he enjoys playing for his local GAA club, Clann Eireann

Órlaithis is one of our Classroom Assistants at the College. As well as working as a Classroom Assistant Órlaith works in the local youth club (Saint Mary’s Youth Club). Órlaith has been involved with facilitating the Youth Achievement Award along with other staff members of SMYC and also helped out with the TRANSFORM program last year. She has a love for the Irish language and is currently studying Irish Language and Literature at the University of Ulster, Magee.

Mr Lavery previously attended the school and is now currently working as a Classroom Assistant in SJBC. He graduated from LJMU in 2019 and is hoping to go on and do his PGCE or Sports Psychology. His interests/hobbies include playing for Ballyoran FC and Tri na nog.

Aine is a Classroom Assistant with many years experience. She has worked in mainstream for many years and is now working with our Learning Support pupils.

Elsa is a General classroom assistant, she provides support to all the students and those who speak Portuguese as their first language, and she give support to their parents too.
She supports student's who need to improve their learning experience and self-confidence. Also, provides support to children doing their GCSE Portuguese.
Elsa have been part of the first aid support group for students and she helped for administering the school bus and payments.

Gerard has worked in the college for 3 years. This year he is involved in the transform project with 10C. Gerard is a fully qualified personal trainer and he runs the after school fitness class for staff to promote health and well-being. Gerard is also currently studying Sports fitness and Coaching part time in the hope of completing a PGCE in Physical Education. His main interests are GAA and golf.
